A Painful Goodbye at the Hospital

Zahara passed away on Monday evening, surrounded by her family and loved ones at a public hospital in Johannesburg, having been moved from Netcare Olivedale Hospital. The renowned artist had been battling liver complications, which led to her being in a coma for more than a week.

During a memorial service at Rhema Bible Church on Thursday, Lumka emotionally recounted the details of Zahara’s final moments.

She explained that the hospital urgently summoned them to witness Zahara’s passing, knowing that time was running out. Upon receiving the distressing news, Zahara’s family gathered in prayer for four hours, holding onto hope for a miracle to save the “Loliwe” hitmaker from the clutches of death.

“The Nurse said you need to stay in the ward and wait because Bulelwa can pass on at any time. That is why we called you. It was painful. We cried. We prayed a lot. Praying for her, with the hope that she would fight death. We prayed for four hours,” the sister said while holding back tears.

Continuing, she shared that they were by Zahara’s bedside in the hospital when, unexpectedly, the machines indicated a flatline. It was at that moment that they realized something was wrong.

“The Doctor said if she dies, all the machines will indicate the number zero. I remember I was on her hospital bed, my brother was hugging her. Bulelwa was breathing at the time with no sign that she would die when the hospital machines stopped. I knew that something was wrong. It wasn’t easy. We release your soul Bulelwa,” Lumka recounted Zahara’s last moments in hospital.
